URISK – call LP black

With CALL, Urisk confront the intertwined loss of wilderness, Gaelic culture, and the mythical in Scotland and beyond. The album takes its title from a tension between two meanings: the Scottish Gaelic call (/kauL/), meaning “loss”, and the English “call”, a calling out as much as an invocation to remember and reclaim what’s been marginalised or erased.

Moving between atmospheric passages and bursts of aggressive black metal, the songs on CALL create deliberate spaces for grief and mourning that naturally follow calamity and loss. Yet, this is not an album resigned to despair. Beneath the voices of melancholy and wrath runs the red thread of hope in the possibility of return, recovery, and reconnection through ways of worshipping the wild.
