Lower Mesozoic Exhibit collects Thecodontion\u0092s earliest material, including their first demo and Jurassic EP, both of which were previously available only in analog formats. These recordings showcase the band\u0092s raw, fast, and chaotic sound, blending war metal and grindcore with a unique thematic focus on prehistoric creatures.<\/p>\n

With a foundation in war metal and grindcore, Thecodontion stands apart with their guitarless approach, delivering a uniquely suffocating sound through distorted bass, frenetic drumming, and primal vocal delivery. The lyrics dive into the prehistoric world, bringing themes of fossils and lost eras to the realm of extreme metal.<\/p>\n

“Before we decided to shift toward a more atmospheric direction, we played this particular kind of guitarless, grindcore-infused war metal. This compilation features our most crude, violent and unpolished material we ever released: pure rawness, like the most ancient times.” \u0096 G.E.F. (vocals & songwriting)<\/p>\n

Conceptually, “the first half of the compilation is about archosaurs from the Triassic period, while the second half focuses on pterosaurs and sauropods from the Jurassic period,” staying true to the band\u0092s prehistoric metal of death approach. \u0096 G.D. (bass & lyrics)<\/p>\n

This release is highly recommended for fans of Antediluvian, Cryptae, Mitochondrion, and Tetragrammacide.<\/p>\n
